16 April 2010

The 21st annual Pharmaceutical Managers’ Institute of Ireland (PMI) conference took place in Druids Glen from Friday 16th April – Sunday 18th April 2010. Outgoing President Martina Doyle had arranged a busy day on the Friday for the Educational Business Day and even the cancellation of some speakers due to the disrupted flights didn’t affect the quality of the workshops. Minister Mary Harney opened the conference with some controversial mention of reference pricing, an issue that is going to affect the whole industry and the rest of the morning included workshops from Professor Niamh Brennan on Corporate Governance and from Colm Foster, a late replacement speaker. Nick O’Hare from IMS presented a very interesting seminar on the future of the Irish Pharmaceutical Industry while the afternoon’s Q&A panel was presided over by Olivia O’Leary. Saturday morning’s AGM officially welcomed in Sean Davis of Ferring Pharmaceuticals as the in-coming President of the Pharmaceutical Managers’ Institute of Ireland and he spoke briefly at the Gala Dinner on the Saturday night.
