12 May 2010: Bord Gáis to create 500 new jobs, profits down 22%

Bord Gáis is to create 500 new jobs over the next three years. The company says the positions will be created as part of an investment in win farms and the recently announced Home Services initiative. Bord Gáis has published its annual report today which show pre-tax profits for 2009 were down 22% on the previous year. CEO John Mullins said the company is focusing on several areas of investment over the coming years. He said the company was preparing to invest around €1bn in its pipeline network between now and 2019. "As a dual-fuel energy supplier we are going to spend €2bn, as an energy company, in electricity," he added. "Also we have significant wind targets out to 2020, such that we'll have 20% of our energy coming from renewable sources."
