I have worked with Joanne Bloomer over the past four months as Allen & Overy (A&O) have set about establishing a shared service centre (SSC) in Belfast which will include a full service Finance function to support the global A&O network.

We chose Brightwater after a rigorous competitive tender exercise which saw them win the exclusive recruitment contract for our Belfast SSC, fighting off stiff competition from several other agencies.

During the past four months, Joanne has helped us to fill twenty one Finance roles, putting us on track to launch our Finance service in Belfast in September 2011. These roles include Financial Controller, Management Accountants, Group Accountants, Financial Analysts, Systems Support Analysts, Credit Control Manager, Credit Controllers, Revenue Team Lead and Revenue Assistants.

This has been the largest piece of recruitment I have undertaken in my career. In addition I have never worked with Joanne before, or recruited in Northern Ireland. Despite these factors, this has been one of the best recruitment experiences I have had. Joanne took time to clearly understand the brief for each role, then set her team to work screening the CV of each applicant and telephone interviewing those who seemed most suitable for the role. This resulted in a long list of suitable candidates that Joanne personally interviewed face to face prior to delivering a short list to me. The shortlists for interview were without exception very strong and as a result I am confident that we have recruited the best individuals possible for each of the roles in Belfast.

In addition to the overall process working exceptionally well, on a personal level, I find Joanne a pleasure to work with. She is both proactive and pragmatic. Her follow up with candidates post A&O interview has been extremely professional, which has meant that on the few occasions where a candidate turned down our offer, Joanne was able to secure the next candidate on our list, without them necessarily feeling second best.

I found the service provided by Brightwater to be first class. I had only done one interview in the previous 6 years but found my consultant in Brightwater's Financial Services division to be excellent in preparing me for the job interview by both providing information on the company and also more importantly on the role.
