CIPD Awards, Northern Ireland Style
30 May 2016
On Thursday 19th May, Brightwater was proud to be headline sponsors of the CIPD Gala Awards for the 4th year running. In past years, we have attended the Gala evening at impressive locations like the Ulster Museum, Larchfield Estate and Belfast City Hall, this year, the iconic Titanic building was the venue of choice and I must say, it certainly didn’t disappoint.
The Gala Awards are always extremely well supported by the HR community in Northern Ireland and this year was no different. Attendance was up more than 20% on last year, and more than 340 professionals came together to celebrate the hard work and achievements in Human Resources within the Northern Irish business community over the past 12 months.
I had the privilege of being part of the CIPD judging panel this year and it gave me a very interesting insight into the depth of talent and creative HR projects across NI businesses from SMEs to multinationals. Within the HR discipline, Brightwater has seen new trends emerging over the past 12 months with increased emphasis on employee engagement, health & wellbeing, talent management and leadership & coaching. The CIPD awards played to these trends and the award categories recognised all of these areas as well as recruitment strategy, HR Director of the year, HR Student of the year, Consultant/Consultancy of the year and HR Team of the year.
It was fantastic to celebrate successes across many of our valued clients and HR contacts. Key winners from the evening included – NIE, Moy Park, South West College, BE Aerospace, NIAMH, Macklin Group. It’s exciting to see the diversity of sectors represented in all the award categories and fantastic to see wins for Moy Park and BE Aerospace – long awaited positive news for the manufacturing sector!
Having specialised in HR recruitment for more than 8 years at Brightwater, it’s always nice to catch up with so many familiar faces from over the years and we were delighted to present the HR Team of the Year award to BE Aerospace, with The Galgorm Resort and Spa being highly commended.
Congratulations also to Linda Hutchinson from NIAMH, who won the HR Director of the year and Gordon Milligan of Translink, who received the Special Chair Award.
A full list of the winners and photos from the night are available on the NICIPD website.
The CIPD awards certainly are the highlight of the calendar year for HR professionals and Brightwater are delighted to continue to support the CIPD NI promoting HR to be at the forefront of business strategy across all sectors!
