Brightwater was delighted to launch the inaugural HR Practitioners Forum at the Merchant Hotel on Tuesday 17th October 2017.
Managing Director Barbara McGrath and Assistant Manager Louise Dooley along with Lynn Carson CIPD Chairperson welcomed a number of leading HR professionals from a range of organisations and sectors across Northern Ireland.
Guests were welcomed by Barbara to the round table discussion to discuss HR challenges and share innovative practices. There was plenty of discussion throughout the afternoon and some great ideas shared around the table.
The topic of attracting and retaining talent was particularly prevalent with analytics, employer branding, flexible working and a variety of recruitment methodologies discussed.
The challenge of communication across multiple sites was debated and common themes identified were that communication needed to come from a senior level and be consistent to help build trust throughout organisations.
From my perspective it was refreshing to hear from the different organisations that many faced similar challenges regardless of size or sector.
The event finished off with a champagne afternoon tea and the discussions continued on into the evening.
Feedback on the forum was that it was an excellent opportunity to share ideas and engage with other HR professionals and the next forum is scheduled for March 2018.
